As a producer magnet, Niykee has a constant eye on beats being sent to her. The majority are a source of new song ideas. "I'll be able tell within 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. When I've got an idea in my head and I begin to write immediately." My guitar is set up on the porch, and I just let my words flow. Most of the time, it's done in less than thirty minutes. Niykee says that when she grows as a lyricist and musician, her memories of her childhood serve as an inspiratoin. "Even when I don't write about my own life in the open, the sadness of losing my sister as well as my difficult childhood are incorporated into my music," she says. The pain of losing my sister, and the memories of my childhood shapes the songs that I create. It is important for me to attach a profound significance to all I perform.
